A synth lead carries a melodic hook or fill line, phrased expressively with pitch glide between held notes. Voiced on the 1988-90 Lovesexy/Batman/Graffiti Bridge era rig, it cuts through the mix with a driven, vocal-like tone typical of Prince's funk/gospel-pop productions of the time.
