notes: The hook is a hand-sequenced Moog lead running an eight-step pattern well ahead of most pop records of the era; the filter is nudged open on every step attack for a plucky, percussive character, and a touch of portamento glides between the two repeating pitches. Tape slapback gives it the rhythmic double that made the riff instantly recognisable.
