The famous opening drone is a VCS3 patched through its own filter with a slow manual sweep, then layered with tape-flanged machine-noise pulses. Wright and Waters built the whole intro from oscillator sweeps rather than a fixed patch, so this is a best-guess recreation of the moving texture.
