A wide, slowly swelling pad underpins the hushed, late-night atmosphere of the ballad, built from a heavily detuned saw stack with a long attack so each chord fades up rather than snapping in. A very slow cutoff LFO gives the pad a gentle, breathing movement under the vocal, washed in a long hall reverb to match the song's nocturnal, empty-city mood.
