On "Maschine brennt" the arp part is a tightly gated, machine-like pulse reflecting the song's mechanical theme. Ponger and Falco cut the album at Stereo West (Vienna) and Arco Studios (Munich) on a Prophet-5/Jupiter-8 pair with a Linn LM-1/LinnDrum machine, the standard Vienna new-wave synth rig of 1981-84. The title ("engine burning") is echoed in a gated, sequencer-like arpeggio.
