A round, driven sub-bass synth is layered beneath the track's famous sped-up sample loop to give the groove low-end weight on club and car systems, a common trick in Marseille boom-bap production of the period. The bass itself is static and simple, leaving the melodic interest entirely to the sampled hook above it.
