- On "Midnight Lady", documented: Marvin Gaye programmed the Roland CR-8000 CompuRhythm and an ARP Odyssey-style synth-bass himself at his home studio in Ostend, unusually hands-on for a soul artist of his generation. Here it carries the synth-bass line, played mono with a fast filter pluck so each note has a percussive attack before settling. Reconstructed by ear from the record; no official patch sheet survives for this part, so the specific oscillator and filter values are an informed approximation anchored to the album's known gear.
