The synth bass drives the groove underneath the vocal on "Man Machine" on I've Been Expecting You, built from the Juno-106, Prophet-5 and Mellotron with orchestra documented for this era's production (Guy Chambers and Steve Power). The part was hand-tuned to sit under the vocal rather than compete with it, following the era's general mix balance.
