Oberheim OB-Xa brass patch: two detuned saws (some accounts say a 4-voice 13-cent unison stack, others 2 saws at 8 cents) layered over a sub square for weight, driven into a lightly resonant 24 dB low-pass around 4 kHz whose envelope barely opens past the amp envelope. On this engine: 2 detuned saw oscillators plus a sub square, gentle amp attack for the brassy swell, BBD-style chorus and a slapback delay for the doubled sheen. DI'd into a guitar amp and re-mic'd 15 cm away, tape pushed roughly -3 dB for grit.
